A glossary of the peptide families in this catalog

The catalog is grouped into nine families. The grouping is a navigational convenience — it reflects the target or the structural class a compound is conventionally associated with in the literature, not a statement about what any product does. Several items sit in a family whose name describes their receptor rather than their chemistry, and a few are not peptides at all.

Recovery & Repair

Short synthetic sequences and recombinant growth-factor analogues. BPC-157 at fifteen residues and TB-500 at seven are the most familiar. The family also holds the IGF-1 analogues LR3 and DES(1-3), which differ from native IGF-1 by an N-terminal extension and a three-residue deletion respectively, plus MGF and its PEGylated form. Follistatin-344 is the outlier: a 344-amino-acid recombinant glycoprotein, an order of magnitude larger than anything else here.

Growth Hormone Axis

Two structural classes sit together here. The GHRH analogues (sermorelin, the two CJC-1295 versions, tesamorelin) run 29 to 44 residues and derive from growth-hormone-releasing hormone. The secretagogue peptides (GHRP-2, GHRP-6, hexarelin, ipamorelin) are five or six residues and full of non-standard amino acids. MK-677 shares the family by target only; it is a small molecule with no peptide bonds at all.

Metabolic

The broadest family. It holds acylated analogues of gut and pancreatic hormones such as cagrilintide and survodutide, growth-hormone fragments including AOD-9604, the mitochondrial-encoded peptide MOTS-c, and several non-peptides: AICAR is a nucleoside analogue, 5-Amino-1MQ a quinolinium salt, SLU-PP-332 a pyrazolopyrimidine.

Cosmetic & Skin

Copper-complexed tripeptides, GHK-Cu and its alanine analogue AHK-Cu, sit here with the acetylated octapeptide SNAP-8 and the melanocortin analogues Melanotan I and Melanotan II. The melanotans carry destination restrictions; several countries prohibit their import, and the site enforces that at checkout.

Neuro & Cognitive

Short sequences derived from larger neuropeptides. Semax is ACTH(4-7) with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail; Selank is tuftsin with the same tail. DSIP is a nine-residue peptide first isolated in the 1970s, dihexa an acylated angiotensin IV derivative, dermorphin a frog-skin heptapeptide notable for its D-alanine at position two.

Longevity & Mitochondrial

Epitalon is a four-residue peptide, AEDG. SS-31 is a four-residue peptide containing two non-standard amino acids. Humanin is mitochondrially encoded like MOTS-c. FOXO4-DRI is a retro-inverso peptide, all D-amino acids in reversed order, and NAD+ and glutathione are a dinucleotide coenzyme and a tripeptide respectively.

Immune

Thymosin α1 is a 28-residue acetylated fragment of prothymosin alpha; thymalin is a tissue-derived preparation rather than a defined sequence. KPV is three residues, LL-37 is thirty-seven, and VIP belongs to the same peptide superfamily as GHRH.

Reproductive & Hormonal

Gonadorelin is synthetic GnRH, sequence-identical to the native decapeptide. Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest active fragment of the KISS1 product. PT-141 is the deaminated metabolite of Melanotan II. HCG and HMG are glycoprotein preparations and prescription biologics in most markets.
