Bacteriostatic water and the other consumables in the catalog
Alongside the peptides, the catalog lists a short consumables family. They are supplied on exactly the same terms as everything else on the site, as laboratory materials and not for human or veterinary use, but they are specified differently from the peptides, so here is what they are.
What bacteriostatic water is
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The benzyl alcohol is a bacteriostatic agent: it inhibits the growth of bacteria that enter the vial rather than sterilising the contents outright. That is the distinction the name carries. Sterile water for irrigation or for laboratory use contains no preservative at all, and once its seal is broken it offers nothing to stop organisms multiplying in it.
The practical consequence is that a preserved vial tolerates being entered more than once, while an unpreserved one does not. This is why bacteriostatic water comes in multi-millilitre vials, here in 3 ml, 7 ml and 10 ml sizes, while unpreserved sterile water is usually supplied in single-use ampoules.
Benzyl alcohol is C7H8O, molecular weight 108.1 g/mol, an aromatic alcohol that is liquid at room temperature and miscible with water at the concentration used. At 0.9% it is present at roughly nine milligrams per millilitre.
Storage and shelf life
Bacteriostatic water is specified at 2–8 °C, protected from light, like the other solutions in the catalog. Preserved water does not keep indefinitely once opened: the manufacturer's own labelling gives the in-use period, and the preservative concentration does not increase to compensate for anything that has already entered the vial.
Discolouration, visible particulates or a broken seal all mean the vial should be discarded rather than assessed. There is no test that makes a compromised vial of water worth keeping.
The other solutions listed
Two of the compounded solutions sit in different families but share the same specification pattern:
- L-Carnitine, CAS 541-15-1, C7H15NO3, molecular weight 161.2 g/mol, supplied as a sterile solution at 600 mg or 1200 mg per 10 ml vial.
- Lipo-C, a compounded solution of methionine, inositol and choline with cyanocobalamin, supplied in 10 ml vials.
Both are specified against the manufacturer's certificate of analysis rather than against a peptide purity specification. That is the honest description of what exists for them. A compounded multi-component solution has no single main peak to integrate, so the HPLC area-percent figure quoted for BPC-157 or Epitalon simply does not apply.
Why consumables are listed at all
They are listed because they are part of the same manufacturer's catalog and ship in the same parcel, which is simpler than sourcing them separately. They carry the same age and research-use attestation at checkout, the same destination checks, and the same terms of sale as every other item.
What this site does not publish is any guidance on preparing, combining or handling these materials for a particular purpose. The note on research use only explains where that boundary sits and why.
